John Adam Smith

ACOUSTIC, ROOTS-DRIVEN SOUL MUSIC

About

John Adam Smith first picked up the guitar when he was ten years old. By 15, he was performing original songs in front of live audiences in his hometown of Missoula, MT. John went on to study Traditional West African Music, which heavily influenced his guitar style and songwriting in his early 20s.

John has thrilled crowds throughout the US, Canada and Australia with his ability to create huge sound as a one-man band. He’s been known to silence packed rooms with his seductive music, only to have everyone up on their feet and dancing for the very next song. From intimate venues to rowdy bars, John plays to the vibe of any audience, making each of his shows a truly unique experience.

John’s roots-driven music blends elements of blues, funk, rock, folk and reggae. He is currently touring solo, showcasing his years of songwriting experience and refined skills as a multi-instrumentalist. He weaves intricate acoustic arrangements, punctuated by open tunings and the captivating sound of his Weissenborn Acoustic Lap Steel Guitar. The music of John Adam Smith is extremely versatile, ranging from upbeat and rowdy to sweet and soulful.

He finds great inspiration from legends such as Duane Allman, JJ Cale, Derek Trucks and Eric Clapton. John Adam Smith has opened for bands including Brett Dennen, Railroad Earth, Elephant Revival, Dark Star Orchestra, Galactic, Trampled by Turtles, Devil Makes Three, The Oh Hellos and many more.
